Photovoltaic's (PV) consist of an array of light sensitive
modules, which produce electricity during day light hours.
The PV arrays can be building or ground mounted, but are normally
installed as an integral part of roof systems replacing traditional
tiles and finishes.
PV arrays work on all roofs, but are most effective on those
facing south, southeast and southwest. In the UK a north facing
PV roof will only generate 60% of the output of a similar
south facing roof.
PV arrays are suitable for domestic, commercial and industrial
applications. The size of PV array for a typical home varies,
depending on load requirements, type of cell used, roof space
available and budget. An array consists of a number of light
sensitive photovoltaic cells bonded together to form roof
coverings etc.
